A Conversation with Lewis Enterprises

It’s always fun to talk real estate, especially with someone as curious and entertaining as Hunter Hopcraft at Lewis Enterprises. Hunter and I have known each other for three years and, after multiple chances to chat about markets, REITs, and private real estate between presentations and over beverages at the VALUE Cville conference we decided to hit record on one of our conversations.

We touched on the similarities and differences between institutional and private allocators, investing across cycles, various leverage and capitalization strategies, incentives, and much more. Hunter’s experience across the public and private real estate spectrum gives him a unique perspective, and the wide range of topics he writes and thinks about makes him a true mosaic investor.
