A few years ago I found myself as one of two misplaced real estate guys at a value investment conference. I figured that even though I’m not a value stock picker, I’ve always been drawn to the Buffett/Munger way of thinking and I knew I could learn a thing or two by putting myself in the same room as a small group of really smart investors. Plus, it was in my backyard. I walked away with some great new contacts and the realization that maybe I wasn’t so out of place after all.

Fast forward a few years and the Value Cville conference has only gotten better. Those initial contacts have become familiar faces and the presentations continue to impress. This year, I was able to sit with the founder, Jeff Henriksen, to talk about why the Charlottesville investment community is so special and how we can apply the lessons of Buffett and Munger to real estate investment.
